On mine I accept Wi-Fi sharing enabled in the hotspot settings and also make certain you only disable the 1 app, not all 3 similar the video. Promise that helps. Not sure if it'll make a difference.

not certain if this will work for Verizon but I establish this method on galaxy s8+ and works on sprint notation eight.

Hotspot hack works here besides. Seems easier than the other method.

1. Download Shortcut Master Lite
2. Search for LTEfunctionality
three. Click on com.examination.LTEfunctionality
iv. Launch
5. Coil down to LTE APN Setting

I have a VZW N8 and zip happens when I try to launch com.exam.LTEfunctionality. I tried to alter the APN settings through ADB already, and that didn't seem to take either, so I call up Verizon just has the APN settings locked up pretty tight.

Do you guys have carrier locked or unlock? I still have unlimited from 2009 and the hot spot works simply fine without whatever of this on an unlocked version....

I'm on the locked VZW, but besides nonetheless have the grandfathered unlimited.
If I knew that workarounds would exist available for all the network specific features, I would have definitely preferred unlocked.
Though I would not accept gotten anywhere near the deal I got for the locked VZW...

And so in an effort to make this equally user-friendly equally possible, I made a Bixby quick control to perform the necessary actions.
Commencement off, I had to install the app WIFI Prioritizer and set the incorrect-passworded network as #1 priority, with motorcar switch on. My other wifi networks all accept auto switch off.
Quick command as follows:
1- Turn off wifi
ii- Turn on wifi
iii- Turn on hotspot
four- Plow off wifi
The timing of Bixby'southward execution seems perfect, even so, there's a big caveat...
Information technology seems wifi-sharing is turned off every time after disconnecting from a wifi network (including only turning wifi off when connected to a network).
I accept not figured out any manner to have Bixby plough wifi sharing back on.
So basically, unless you never connect to wifi, the quick command won't work without also manually turning on wifi sharing.

If anybody has whatever suggestions to deal with the wifi sharing issue, please let me know!

I have the Verizon version of the phone. Which is technically unlocked but with the Verizon firmware. If it'due south similar the vzw s8 then we should be able to flash the unlocked firmware to information technology and the hotspot will simply work. Merely the Verizon firmware locks down the hotspot unless you lot pay, or find a hack around information technology.

Merely reason I'm posting is to assist pivot down who needs this mod.

Does an unlocked phone on Verizon withal become throttled afterwards 15GB of Hotspot Data? I had been using an S3 with Foxfi and never got a bulletin about using Hotspot Data till yesterday. Was looking at peradventure getting some other unlocked Note8 to serve as a Hotspot if I wouldn't become hit subsequently 15GB on Verizon'southward new unlimited program.

Once I dl'd PDP from their page I could disable, just so I cannot select Mobile hotspot.

The all-time solution for Verizon phones is to flash the unlocked firmware onto your phone. Super easy and problem solved. The i downside is you volition lose vvm and wifi calling, but I don't utilise those anyway. And you get rid of the Verizon bloat.

@Proweedsmoker: thanks for your post. i relied on it when i ordered my unlocked notation 8. i have an unlimited data plan from 2004. the phone arrived yesterday; it "merely" took 2 weeks to make it. i went to verizon to get a micro sim carte (since the sim in my note 3 is the larger version). they activated it and first affair i did was plough on the hotspot to see if i could get wifi on my notation 3. information technology worked perfectly. huge relief; no rooting, flashing or potential brick-making procedures. i'm loving this note 8 so far.
